The Modern Apprenticeship in Hairdressing requires competence to the
standards at S/NVQ Level 2, S/NVQ Level 3, an additional skill component
and five Core Skills.
Core Skills
Communication
Using number
Information technology (not mandatory for hairdressing)
Personal and interpersonal skills:-
improving own performance
working with others
Problem Solving
Additional Skill Components
(One component should be selected)
Optional and Additional S/NVQ units not already taken at S/NVQ levels
2 and 3.
S/NVQ units in Supervisory Management, Customer Care, Selling, Beauty,
Retailing, Training and Development.
Core Skill Unit in Information Technology or a higher level in another
core skill unit.
A vocational foreign language unit or qualification.
Courses relevant to Hairdressing which are demonstrably additional to
activities leading to S/NVQ Level 3 in Hairdressing and which are agreed
with the LEC and HTB as providing added value. Specific examples include:
manufacturers and other courses which have some form of assessment of
competence in terms of added value, personal development training courses,
photography, wigmaking, postiche and trichology.
